Reflection on week 3 reading - Teaching Guidelines

After reading this article, it inspired me that teachers only promote using technology is not good enough for students. Because it is easy for students to surf on the net and there are many attractive topics and information for them. However, which part of information is useful for them and appropriate for them? This is a very important issue for teachers ensure that their students get what information they need to. So, teachers play an important role in the classroom.

  1. Thanks for this interesting observation. I agree - technology should not be used as just an add-on or a presentation tool, rather teachers need to find ways to integrate it in a meaningful way with the learning goals that form part of their syllabus and curriculum. In this sense, project work can be very useful.

  2. In my part of reading for this week. It mentioned about 10 examples of Web projects which introduced how teachers around the world integrate technology into their English cirriculum. Some of them sounds quite practical, say the email exchange project between Hong Kong and USA secondary school students. It is a good idea to communicate with native speakers through internet,I'm sure the L2 speakers can learn a lot.
